My name is Sarah Baker and I am the Magdalen Court School Career Development Consultant from CSW.

My role is to provide independent information, advice and guidance about Post-16 and Post-19 options for young people with an EHCP. I see pupils on an individual basis or in small groups to support the school's careers programme. Support starts in year 9 – where I will phone parents/carers to introduce myself and the service CSW offers and in years 10 and 11 individual careers meetings will take place.

If a young person is planning to leave Magdalen Court School we will write an Options Appraisal Report that will be sent to the local authority SEND Team (0-25 team) and future college provision. This is to capture information about the young person's interests and skills, and reasons for applying to their preferred college. This document goes alongside the Annual Review as part of the EHCP process. There is a section in the report “Parent/Carer Views on Post 16 Options” where I will ask for parent/carer input.
